About We Build Humanoids

We Build Humanoids (WBH) is a structured, sourced reference for humanoid robotics: robot records with specifications and development support, a feed of significant releases and research, and topic hubs and guides that connect them. It is written for engineers, researchers and students who need to know what a platform actually offers before they build on it.

It exists because the facts developers need are scattered across product pages, repositories, papers and release notes, and are often repeated without a source. WBH collects them in one place and shows where every fact comes from.

Each robot is a structured record, not an article: its manufacturer, status, specifications, software and simulation support, resources and topics. Every published value links to a source, with the place in the source it comes from. A value no reliable source states is shown as Not published; it is never estimated. Differences between sources are recorded in the record's verification report rather than hidden.

Topic hubs and guides draw on the same records, so a robot's ROS 2 support shown in a guide is the value on its own page, with the same source.

For robot facts, WBH prefers the most primary source available, in this order:

1. the manufacturer's product pages and technical documentation;
2. the manufacturer's developer documentation, repositories and SDKs;
3. the manufacturer's research papers and technical reports;
4. reputable third parties (for example a simulator project's own model of the robot), for community support only.

Search-result snippets, resellers, social media, AI summaries and uncited blog posts are never used as evidence. A third-party source can support a statement that community support exists; it can never support an official hardware specification.

A robot record passes through two separate steps:

• Evidence verification. Every claim is checked against the cited source: the value, the unit, the variant it applies to, and a short verbatim excerpt. Records at this stage are public and say so: “AI-assisted · awaiting editor review”.
• Editor sign-off. A named human editor reviews the record and its verification report and signs it off. Only then can a record be indexed by search engines. Changing a signed-off record resets its sign-off.

Records carry the date their sources were last checked. Topic hubs and guides follow the same principle: they are public only after an editor has signed off the exact version shown.

WBH uses AI to assist research and drafting: reading product pages and documentation, extracting candidate values with their excerpts, and drafting overviews, topic introductions and update summaries from the cited sources. Every excerpt is then checked mechanically against the saved source text.

AI output is not editorial verification. Nothing drafted with AI assistance is published as reviewed. Approving, signing off and publishing are decisions of a named human editor, recorded under that editor's name; AI never makes them. Pages say when text was drafted with AI assistance. The rules that decide which discovered developments reach an editor are deterministic and recorded with their reasons; they are not a language model's judgement.

WBH monitors a small, fixed list of official channels: manufacturers' release pages and repositories, simulator and framework releases, and arXiv for research that uses robots in the database. Discoveries go to an editorial queue or a private weekly research digest; nothing is published automatically. Each published update links to its original source and carries an original summary, never a copy of the source text.
